Alive & Kicking Kenya

The first Alive & Kicking stitching centre was set up in Nairobi in 2004. Since then Alive & Kicking Kenya has produced and distributed over 200,000 balls. More than 70 sustainable jobs have been created and an estimated 50,000 young Kenyans have been impacted by our health awareness programme.

Alive & Kicking Kenya has distributed balls to hundreds of thousands of children throughout Africa because of the generous support of its ball sponsors. Supporters include UEFA, Good Gifts, DFID, UK Sport, and Christian AID. As well as distributing balls through donations, Alive & Kicking balls are retailed at Nakumatt stores in Kenya, and now in Rwanda and Uganda.

Every Alive & Kicking ball that is donated in Kenya is printed with a health awareness message about HIV/AIDS and malaria. Health awareness roadshows conducted once a year deepen the impact of these messages, giving advice and information on how young people can stay healthy. HIV/AIDS health awareness posters featuring Kenyan sporting heroes have been distributed to all 4,000 secondary schools in Kenya.
