Health awareness

  • 2.75 million people are living with HIV/AIDS in Ghana, Zambia and Kenya
  • We organise football roadshows and tournaments to raise knowledge of health issues, provide accessible HIV testing and reduce stigma about disease
  • We have reached over 70,000 children and their families through health awareness initiatives

We believe that sport’s mass appeal makes it the perfect vehicle for conveying health advice to young people. The balls that we distribute to children are printed with simple health messages and we have run successful HIV/AIDS poster campaigns. Our posters, featuring simple advice endorsed by Kenyan sports personalities, have been put up in all 4,000 government secondary schools in Kenya.

Our HIV/AIDS awareness roadshows in Kenya and Zambia, which combine games with health education, have been a resounding success. We work with specialist health partners, including Right To Play and Tackle Africa, to combat social and economic drivers of disease through sports drills and workshops.

Orphanages

Kenya and Zambia have 1 million and 600,000 orphans respectively. Most orphanages cannot afford even the most basic toys for children to play with. A ball brings a lot of joy!
