Alive & Kicking’s work in Africa is funded by our supporters. Over 75% of the work our UK office carries out to open new stitching centres in Africa and to support the incredible work of our existing centres is raised through voluntary donations.
Our projects are designed on the principle that promoting self sufficiency within a target beneficiary group is the best route out of long term poverty. The charity does not believe in quick fixes and wants to leave a lasting legacy in the communities it operates within. Our operations are planned to sustain themselves within three to six years following an initial investment of seed funding.
We are proud that our supporters are very engaged in our work and tend to remain engaged for the long term. We use social media effectively and maximise PR opportunities, having recently featured in The Metro and The Telegraph.
Events
A&K organises a range of events, which have included charity runs, fundraising dinners and 5-a-side tournaments. You are also welcome to organise your own event on behalf of Alive & Kicking which we may be able to help with.
Fundraise For Us
As a growing social enterprise, our network of support is extremely important to us. As we establish and support businesses that generate their own income, you can be sure your donations have a huge impact.
What your support could help us achieve
£100 will allow us to donate eight hand stitched African sports ball to local children's projects and schools
£500 will provide ceiling fans to help keep stitchers cool
£1,000 will fully train four stitchers at our new operation in Ghana in a new skill that will allow them to support themselves and their families
£15,000 will pay for a new delivery and outreach vehicle in Ghana.

Fundraiser Focus
Spurs fan Graham Shepherd ran the London 10km for A&K and raised £500 in the process. "I hadn't really done any fundraising before but the A&K team were there for me every step of the way. The money I raised will make a real difference to their work."
