Beyond the Bike – a Charity Cycling Adventure
Alive & Kicking is thrilled to be a partner of ‘Beyond the Bike’, an epic journey by Stuart Block to support a number of good causes. Stuart will be riding a tandem bicycle, accompanied by various people en route, from Livingstone back to London, in time for the 2012 Olympics. He will be cycling via the Copperbelt region in Zambia and also plans to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro and Mt. Blanc along the way.
Beyond the Bike is about Partnership, helping build links between communities in two different continents. Doing the cycle on a tandem can be seen as a travelling microcosm of this broader goal. Stuart aims to work with various individuals and business in the UK and Africa to help raise money and awareness for education, enterprise and vision in Africa – and more specifically the work of Beyond Ourselves, Alive & Kicking, Right to Sight and Unicef.
As a result of fundraising in support of the journey Alive & Kicking hopes to distribute almost 1,000 balls to disadvantaged schools in Kenya and Zambia.
